Job Summary
As a Customer Service Agent for Alaska Airlines, you are the cornerstone of the guest experience. You will oversee the complete passenger journey from the moment they enter the check-in lobby until they board the aircraft. This role requires you to process reservations, manage the intricate logistics of gate departures, and provide a calming presence during chaotic travel disruptions. You must thrive in a highly public, physically demanding airport job where exceptional customer service jobs skills are tested and rewarded daily.
Comprehensive Daily Responsibilities
- Lobby & Ticketing Duties: Greet guests warmly, process electronic and paper tickets, manage Mileage Plan frequent flyer upgrades, and efficiently check in heavy and oversized baggage.
- Gate Dispatch Operations: Control the pacing and safety of the boarding process. You will make clear public address announcements, scan boarding passes, monitor overhead bin space limits, and operate the passenger boarding bridge to connect to the aircraft.
- Guest Advocacy & IRROPS: Act as a relentless advocate for our guests during irregular operations (IRROPS) such as weather delays or mechanical groundings. You will rapidly utilize airline software to rebook flights, issue hotel accommodations, and provide empathetic, transparent communication.
- Safety & Security Protocols: Enforce all TSA and FAA regulations with authority. You will meticulously verify international passports and visas, ensuring that the airline avoids costly compliance violations while maintaining secure border protocols.
- Special Service Delivery: Provide compassionate, specialized care for unaccompanied minors, guests utilizing wheelchairs, and those traveling with emotional support or pet-in-cabin animals.
