Welcome to the Global Network of American Airlines

Caring for People on Life's Journey

At American Airlines, our purpose is deeply rooted in caring for people—both our team members and the millions of customers who choose to fly with us every year. As the world's largest airline, we offer an unparalleled global reach. Becoming a Customer Assistance Representative places you directly at the heart of our mission. If you have a profound passion for helping others and thrive in a bustling, high-stakes environment, this is an elite opportunity among customer service jobs. This role is a demanding, fully on-site position located directly inside our bustling airport terminals; please note that this is not a remote job.

Job Summary

As a Customer Assistance Representative, you are the critical connection between the passenger and their destination. Working dynamically across the ticketing lobbies, self-service kiosks, and departure gates, you will actively orchestrate the passenger experience. You must be prepared to handle high volumes of foot traffic, address complex international ticketing issues, and ensure that every flight is boarded and dispatched with supreme safety and punctuality. This is a hands-on, high-visibility airport job tailored for natural problem solvers.

Comprehensive Daily Responsibilities

  • Lobby Navigation & Support: Serve as an active concierge in the check-in hall. Proactively guide customers to available self-service kiosks, assist with complex tag printing, and process heavy checked luggage onto the conveyor network.
  • Elite Passenger Handling: Deliver white-glove, premium service to our AAdvantage elite members and first-class travelers, ensuring their specific seating preferences, upgrades, and lounge access requests are flawlessly accommodated.
  • Gate Dispatch Command: Take full ownership of the boarding process. Deliver authoritative and welcoming public announcements, scan boarding passes swiftly, and collaborate directly with the Captain and lead flight attendant to secure the aircraft doors on time.
  • Irregular Operations (IRROPS) Mastery: During severe weather events or operational disruptions, act as the calming authority. Skillfully rebook hundreds of displaced passengers, issue compensation vouchers, and de-escalate intensely emotional customer situations.
  • Strict Regulatory Compliance: Meticulously verify international travel documents, passports, and visas to guarantee absolute compliance with global border control and TSA security mandates.

Unmatched Total Rewards

Your dedication is rewarded with an incredible portfolio of benefits that outpaces the rest of the airline industry:

  • Unrestricted Standby Travel: Access unlimited, free standby travel for you, your family, and registered guests across the massive American Airlines and oneworld® alliance network.
  • Financial Security: Enjoy robust compensation packages featuring built-in overtime opportunities, holiday pay premiums, and a 401(k) plan with generous company matching.
  • Comprehensive Healthcare: Day-one access to elite medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug coverage to keep you and your loved ones protected.
  • Union Representation: Benefit from the stability, defined work rules, and collective bargaining power of a unionized workforce.

Rigorous Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older with a High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be willing to work entirely on-site in a highly physical, fast-paced terminal environment (no remote work permitted).
  • Ability to continuously stand, walk, and lift up to 70 pounds throughout an entire shift.
  • Flexible availability is mandatory; you must be able to work rotating shifts, overnights, weekends, and federal holidays.
