The Delta Air Lines Experience

For many travelers, the journey begins the moment they step into the airport departures hall. At Delta Air Lines, we rely on our Ticketing & Check-In Specialists to set a positive, welcoming tone for the entire trip. If you possess an incredible aptitude for hospitality and a sharp eye for detail, this is a premier opportunity among customer service jobs. You will be the crucial first point of contact in a vibrant, bustling terminal, making this one of the most visible aviation jobs available.

Job Summary

As a Check-In Specialist, your primary objective is to facilitate a seamless, stress-free arrival process for our guests. Stationed at the main ticketing counters and kiosk zones, you will assist passengers with itinerary modifications, baggage processing, and international documentation verification. This on-site airport job requires a high level of technical proficiency to navigate airline reservation systems, paired with the emotional intelligence to assist anxious or rushed travelers with grace.

Core Responsibilities

  • Reservation Management: Utilize Delta’s proprietary ticketing software to issue boarding passes, process upgrades, collect ancillary fees, and rebook flights.
  • Baggage Intake: Accurately weigh, tag, and dispatch checked luggage onto the conveyor systems, ensuring compliance with domestic and international baggage allowances.
  • International Compliance: Diligently verify passports, visas, and health documentation to ensure passengers meet all entry requirements for their destination countries, preventing costly regulatory fines.
  • Special Assistance: Provide dedicated, empathetic support for unaccompanied minors, travelers requiring wheelchair assistance, and passengers traveling with pets or oversized sporting equipment.
  • Kiosk Navigation: Actively roam the lobby floor to assist self-service customers, troubleshooting kiosk errors and expediting the check-in flow during peak departure banks.

Your Delta Rewards

A career in the airline industry offers benefits that go far beyond a paycheck:

  • Standby Flight Privileges: Fly across our massive global network on your days off.
  • Career Progression: Delta actively promotes from within, offering clear pathways from the ticket counter to corporate or operational leadership roles.
  • Total Wellness: Industry-leading health insurance, mental health resources, and a dominant 401(k) retirement plan.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Previous customer service or retail experience is highly valued.
  • Must possess the physical capability to repeatedly lift and maneuver luggage weighing up to 50-70 pounds.
  • Ability to thrive in a 100% on-site, public-facing environment.
